There generally is a white discharge which can turn to a cottage cheese consistency. Your genitals will itch and if the infection is severe enough, you will also burn when you urinate. There are some over the counter drugs which will clear the infection, however, if you're not sure and this is your first infection, please see your OBGYN doctor.

If you've had sex, you need to be certain that you don't have an STD. This is another good reason to see your doctor.

Some of the things that can cause yeast infections are: tight fitting pants, pantyhose, not enough lubrication during sex, other infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc), too much sugar in the body and an imbalance of good and bad bacteria in the body.

Eating yogurt is an excellent way to keep yeast infections at bay, because it balances the good bacteria in your body. Also, wear panties that have a cotton crotch. Cotton absorbs fluids where as other fabrics don't allow your genitals to breath.

You may have a cottage cheese like discharge, itching, and an odor. Wear a thong could irritate and also cause more a problem.

You need to see your Dr asap. He will prescribe you something like gyno lotrim or difulcan for your yeast infection.

After you have been treated, wear cotton underwear, eat more yogurt and also don't use sprays or any other feminine products in the vagina. Keep that are clean with just soap and water. Also remember to drink plenty of water and you may want to skip using tampons. Alternate between pads and tampons to give that area a break. Good Luck!

I don't get the white fluid. I do get the itching and sometimes extreme rashing. If you take antibiotics get some acidopholus from a naturopath doctor. Yogurt and Health food store acidopholus is not strong enough. Avoid wearing wet swim suits for long periods. Warm humid atmosphere invites infection. If you are super prone to them, try going without underwear at home, wear skirts, etc. Keep yourself aired out. That is what I have to do, and it works better than all the meds doctors have prescribed. You will have to take the drugstore meds to get rid of it, but the real key is preventing it. Oh, and drink lots of water.

You will ITCH like crazy, may be some odor. Odd as it sounds, if you catch it in time...you can put yogurt on yourself, not IN you, but apply it as a topical ointment in the vaginal area. Something in the yougurt does something to the ph. Anyway....it's cheaper than the creams or doctor bill, and seems to stop it from going further. Obviously if you aren't sure, have your doctor check you out. Once you know the symptoms, and can recognize the potential for one, you can treat it with a method you are comfortable with. I personally have a problem with the one dose, I think it may not be enough time to clear things up, the three day has worked for me. I heard too that if you nuke your underwear (yes, the microwave) for a few seconds....like maybe up to 10, it is supposed to kill the germs as I heard washing alone isn't always effective...and you DON'T want to re-infect yourself.

they are usually very uncomfortable and itchy. Your doctor can test you for it, there are many medicines you can buy over-the-counter for this. Taking antibiotics brings this on for me.
