meteors are very small....comets are very big.....so you should be afraid of comets..

meteors fall all the time...

u know what, so many comets pass very close to earth....scientists at NASA say that chance that a comet hits earth is very high...though, they never found a comet whose path
cuts the earths path...(many paths cut earths orbit.,but not when earth is there at the intersection point)......

It is because of Jupiter that most comets dont hit earth...coz jupiter attracts them with so much more power than earth....

1300 earths fit in the volume of jupiter......

If a meteor hits the earth a large part would be blown off and it would form debris in space and the part which would be saved would not be able to sustain life because of the impact. The chances of a meteor hitting the earth 4 years ago were 1 in 100000000 but now it is 1 in 500000 so the danger is increasing.

Rest easy...No, meteors hit the earth every day. Short of a collision with an earth-sized object (no known possibility of this), nothing will blow the earth apart and a collision may only make it change course (of course, those people on the collision side will be totally eliminated). A near-by supernova (another sun blowing up) could destroy all life on the surface, as could a major nuclear war, but blowing up the earth? No.

It is not true. A meteor stirkes the earth about 1000 times a day. In order for a meteor to eliminate the earth, it would have to be really big.

So, sleep well and don't worry about this question.

Good Luck!

well if a meteor does stike.. it is likely that a large portion of the world would be lost to death.

However.... the odds of that happening are:

.0000000000000000001%
