Anxiety is normal in the stress full world we all live in. Some individuals just get more anxious than others. This does not make a person crazy.
If you do not treat your anxiety, it will only get worse. Worrying about it just increases your stress level. Xanax is just an emergency preventative to reduce that stress.
You should not be embarrassed to talk to your doctor. You should present this problem to your doctor as a way of making your life more livable. This is a mature way of dealing with and resolving a problem. He should be willing to work with you on this issue.

Just tell your doctor that when you were having an anxiety attack, a friend gave you a Xanax an it really helped. Xanax is one of the meds that is prescribed alot for anxiety problems. "BUT" you must be very careful an "ONLY" take them when they are really needed, they are very very addictive.

Xanax, is really addictive. Try getting over your anxiety yourself before becoming dependent on a chemical.

Be honest. Tell your doc you have an anxiety problem. He/she may not prescribe Xanax, however, Paxil and Lexapro are also great choices. Your doc isn't going to think you're "crazy" if you're just open and honest with them. They are there to help you, not to look down on you.

I have the same problem but am avoiding meds because most just make me feel even WORSE. Does Xanax give you any extremely uncomfortable side affects? I might ask MY dr. about this if it doesn't.

I have been having anxiety problems for 10 years now. I tried Nortriplilyne for 2 weeks and It changed me from a very nice and helpful Mother, Daughter, Wife, Etc to a raging B____ or I was crying. I was overmedicated with Effexor XR before that. Before that they had me on Paxil - I'm back on Paxil with Clonozapam besides. Any help here would be appreciated
