I see a lot of shows written by or including Jewish characters, but I think you're more interested in musicals centered around Jewish people and situations. Therefore...

Of course, there is "Funny Girl" and the Marvin shows by William Finn ("In Trousers", "March of the Falsettos" + "Falsettoland", which were combined on Broadway to become "Falsettos".)

However, there are others;

Bock & Harnick, the authors of "Fiddler" also wrote "The Rothschilds" about the famous Jewish banking family. The Broadway production starred Hal Linden, Jill Clayburgh, and a young Robbie Benson.

"Seesaw", based on the play 'Two for the Seesaw' about a Jewish girl named Gittel Mosca falls in love with a big gentile named Jerry Ryan and then watches it all fall to crap around her.

Technically (and I do mean technically!) because they do not mention Jesus, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Two by Two" count as Jewish musicals, and I have seen these done by Jewish theatre groups in the past.

"Chu Chem" a musical that focused on Jews in Asia which starred Molly Picon & Menasha Skulnik

"Der Yiddisher Mikado", which should be self-explanitory.

There is also an Israli musical called "To Live Another Summer..." that you might want to check out. There is an English translation of the show.

Hope this helps.

Within the musical genre, there are five musicals that depict Jewish themes as well as different approaches in how they use music. The five films are Fiddler on the Roof, Yentl, The Jazz Singer, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Dirty Dancing

I've seen several female Jewish characters mentioned, but not many male, so besides Tevye -

Jamie, The Last Five Years (esp. The Schmuel Song)

Mr. Mushnik, Little Shop of Horrors

Mark Cohen, Rent

Funny Girl
and Funny Lady
(preview them, I'm not certain they're appropriate, but they're wonderful) They aren't "Jewish musicals" but the heroine is Jewish - outrageously Jewish.

Actually, anything Barbara Streisand sings in *becomes* a Jewish musical!

There must be others, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.
