It needs alot of sunlight (at least 6 hrs) but, not all day direct sun.. You only need a couple of stalks to start a garden of rhubarb - it multiplies over the yrs. So plant it where you'll want to keep it.. Do make sure to cut the leaves after havesting - they are poisonous.. Best time to plant them is in the early spring or when your area is free of frost.. They should be watered often as well as fertilized with manure...

mine do well with partial sun thought they were slow to get started. I have heard and it sees to be true that they like to 'have their backs against something', like the house or a fence. the big leaves probably act as sails so it damages the stalks and they need wind protection. They love love manure, every month. The first year is always dodgy and small; do not harvest until they look really big and happy, second year at the earliest.
