I use to think that Yahoo was a place to make friends, chat, laugh but I was obviously wrong!
There is too much hatred, jelousy, whining and so much more!! I'm Italian and very proud of it as everyone else should be about their country but this has gotten out of control, Italy won and I'm really happy for them, but if they don't make it to the final I will still be proud of them..but remember life goes on!
I'm out of here!!

People mainly Aussie fans are sore loosers Most do not see or realize that slide tackling your opponent inside your own goal area is not a good idea and yet aussie fans make false statements like the ref was bought out or Italy took a dive..
That's bull... In 1990 diego maradona took more dives in one game than any player I have seen

Hey Juventina! i just want to say that im italian too, but you're taking this stuff a bit too personal here! I agree that sometimes some people leave stupid comments but it's not a reason to get all pissed and to start an argument here! You shouldn't pay attention, besides most people leave their opinions as you would leave them, you just have to respect that!
Most people do think that the Italians are fakers and play a comedy, oh well... It's their problem even though we all know that there is a bit of thruth in that... It's not just about the italians here! A lot of soccer players will fake or ''play tricks'' whatever you want to call it!
Nobody hates Italy, PEOPLE LOVE ITALY! they're talking about soccer and the way the soccer is played.. it's not about Italy, and if it is, it's too bad for them, they are ignorants ! oh well... Be proud of who you are, of what you are, but when you see that some people disagree with you it's cool, it's just how they feel!
So whatever happens to the italian team...
Forza Azzurri per sempre! : )

FORZA AZZURRI
FORZ ITALIA
il bel paese scassera` tutto ed a tutti!
VINCEREMO, VINCEREMO, POROPOPOPO!
to "the^ -ANAL- Cyst":
you don't know what you're saying- take your pills, and keep dreaming. ANY team, ANY, if awarded a PK (the Italian player didn't give it to himself, right?) will take it. The foul was there-you do not slide tackle, inside the box, w/seconds left, and hope that what? The Italians will give the ball back? Would Viduka have done that, if Cannavaro took him down? NO!
And, for TOTTI to score, with all that pressure (I've seen the azzurri lose waaaaay too many times on PKs in the WC: 1990 semifinal, 1994 FINAL, 1998, agst eventual champs FRANCE - hey, we made it to all those rounds btw...the "roos," or that silly name they have, did what, exacty? 50 MINUTES, up one man, and you can't score? Don't blame the Italians, blame the team that can't score and has NO football history) it was.........MAGNIFICENT. A Roman Warrior- AO`, BRAVO FRANCE` !
and to Valentinorocks:
sei evidentemente uno squilibrato....Italians are fat???
IPOCRITI e RAZZISTI.
that's the truth - e tu sei un figlio di mignotta :)
(and if you can't read Italian, you must be American/English/any ANGLO-Nordic race..... the "superior people!"....
ma andate a cagare.........cafoni di quattro soldi.
:O))) ciao ciao
FORZA ITALIA!
---------------
for Michel B:
sorry, but what do you mean???
what exactly did the Italians do to merit your venom?
Did they KILL A BABY? NO - they won a freakin' GAME!
Players do NOT assign PKs to themselves-this is not a Sunday, over-30 football league. The REF gave the penalty- take it out on him if you want, but why pick on the Italians??? I'm so sick of this overblown "incident."
Italy finished at the top of their WC qualifying group, beat Holland (away) and Germany (at home) in pre-WC friendlies, they topped Group E, w/no losses, and have not conceded a goal (the 1 goal was an own-goal). How is that NOT playing well???
Explain this to me.
And....what about the fact that they had to play w/10 men, under a blazing heat? You expected them to put on a showcase of football under those conditions? Australia could have scored, they had the extra man, but their shots were horrible-is that the big bad Italians fault too? And the PK was NOT A DIVE! Grosso tripped over a sliding tackle - questionable call? Yes. BUT....Grosso didn't call it himself.
Now, look at when Matrerazzi tried to tackle Bresciano, yet slid into.... Zambrotta, and yet Bresciano rolled over and over and over (see the replays), on the pitch like he was shot in the face by a .44 Magnum - NOW THAT'S A DIVE! Result? expulsion for Materazzi.
Why don't you defend Materazzi?
So, ONLY Italians (and Portuguese-according to you) dive?
Is that so Mr. Football? Get real. I played football too, EVERYONE DIVES. Do I like it? NO. But it happens.
Remember Romario's fake "face" injury? Brazilians are the best of the best divers- as are Germans, English, Polish, Latvians, Ecuadorians, Maltese, Mexicans, etc...it's a crappy part of the game, but Grosso's was not a dive.
HE FELL, TRIPPED OVER THE GUY- a dive is FAKING A FALL or OVERDOING IT WHEN FALLING (like Bresciano). If an Italian player does dive, I'll be the first to amdit it, I don't like it anymore than you do. But face it, for some reason, the media, fans, for whatever reason HATE Italy- and that's racism.
Did you hear about the RACIST RANT on der Spiegel magazine?
A host country talking about their guests, the Italians, as PARASITES...nice uh? Buncha Nazi a-holes. Hope Argetina rips them two new ones tomorrow.
And talk about getting screwed over at the WC: see Korea-Italy, and Korea-Spain from 2002. Did you make a big stink about that? I doubt it...
But hey win or lose, I ROOT ITALIA - always. You're rooting for the underdog, that's cool, but to denigrate the ENTIRE ITALIAN TEAM, with all of their history and talent, over a questionable call, smacks of that "ism" you mentioned, "mate."

FOR ALL THE INCOMPETENTS COMPLAINING ABOUT ITALY AND THE GAME WITH AUSTRALIA: check who is the referee for Brasil - France (quarter final)
Luis MEDINA CANTALEJO from Spain!!!
If he had made mistakes, he would have released by FIFA! Instead, he is refereeing one of the most important game of the WORLD CUP! Unless now you come up with the BS of FIFA being corrupted or incompetent, that shows what I have always said: the pk for ITALY was legitimate
BUNCH OF INCOMPETENT!!!

It is funny to see you all pumped up about your country. Wait, funny or pathetic,
Most sport analyst I read agreed. It was a disputable call for the penalty. You can't agree with them. Fine. But please do not start your little victim's act. This is called chauvinism and that is one step away from another word ending in "ism"
I played for soccer in leagues for 6 years (high school and college) and NEVER EVER saw so many players falling and ACTING HURT like the Azzura (and Portugal for that matter). If you think of reasons why the sport is not growing in North America like in the other continents, think of 3 things:
- Low scores
- No stop in play for TV commercial sponsors
- but also : Fake injuries.
I will be happy to root for your country (and I really mean it) when they start playing, not acting. It is such a beautiful sport, it does need this cheap disgrace.

I don't think people hate Italy, but they hate how lucky they have been with poor referee calls in the game against the US and Australia. I think any rational person would have to agree that the call in the game versus Australia game was ridiculous. And what's with Toti and sucking his thumb???
