I like to start with the simple stuff! Is there power to the monitor you are using? Do the hard drives whirr when you power up? The next thing to look at was the computer plugged into the wall the whole time it was not in use? When you pulled the memory out did you turn the computer back on to see if there were any "beeps"? It should complain if there is no memory in there! If it doesn't, is the internal speaker dead? Did you clean the dust bunnies out of the unit? There are several things that could or would go wrong with a computer that hasn't been used in months. Corrosion, from moisture. Power surges. Vermin chewing on wiring. Depending on how and where this was stored at for this four month period. The other thing you can do is if you have another computer that you can use to test the video card, memory, and other components on then try that.

If you take the memory (RAM) out of the motherboard, and there is no beeps, then your motherboard has gone bad.
If you left it plugged in from 4 months ago, the power could have gone out and caused it to fry the mobo.

Check the CMOS battery to see if its flat. Clear CMOS either by setting jumper or shorting battery contacts.
Clean the system of any dust collected inside.
This should give you a beep.

What type of operating system are you running?
Are you able to get into the BIOS setup? if you can then get into the hardware configuration and check to make sure that your computer is recognizing your Hard Drive..

During those 4 months it wasn't used, was it left ON? You may need to change the power pack. See your manufacturer's site on how.

you left a computer unused for 4 months? shame on you! poor computer :)
try plugging the harddrive into a different computer as a slave drive and see if it will read it. test what you can on a different computer.

sounds like you messesd it up when u pulled something out of it, re-install what u took out, re-power it up and see if it recognizes it, then re-install the software disks at boot up, meaning power it down, but before powering it down, put the disk in and shut off, then turn back on, start it and it shoudl recognize it then go from there
