I am married to a convicted child molester who in actuality did not commit the crime but served 2 years in prison. How do I know this? I have spoken to the 2 girls he supposedly molested (step-daughters) and they admit that their mother made them say that so that she could get him out of her life. Because he could not afford a good lawyer( who did not show up most of the time) he wound up being found guilty! He has a very good relationship with his step-daughters but he will pay for a crime he didn't commit for the rest of his life. Tell me how far is that?

Double jeopardy is by definition being tried twice for the same crime. Once found guilty punishment may be far reaching for many crimes. Felons cannot vote or own firearms. Paroled felons still have to report to a parole officer. If you get a second or third speeding ticket, the price goes up.

Do not mistake double jeopardy for having anything to do with punishment. It DOES NOT.

To be charged with the same crime twice is double jeopardy. It is not double jeopardy for being convicted serving your time and then having to register as a sex offender. Registering is meant to give police a database to work from should there become a need to look for these perverts who are in dire need of a well placed bullet.

I agree they should pay for there crime only once. They should spend the rest of their damn lives in prison. If anyone hurts a child they are a worthless piece of garbage. We need to protect our children. Keeping these dirt bags off the streets is a good start.

If you had a 3 year old child and some freak molested the child would you really not want that freak to pay for their crime for eternity! I for one would be the one paying for a crime.....it would be kidnapping, torture and murder cause that is what I would do to the freak that molested any of my children or loved ones!!!

Child molesters are sexual deviants and should not only get psychological therapy but be monitored constantly.

It has been proven that they are repeat offenders and cannot control their attraction toward minors.
The lives they have ruined and the innocence they have stolen will permanently scar that child throughout their lives.

So in return for a child's lifetime of fear, I think a fair trade off is the child molesters lifetime of monitoring and checking in with his/her parole officer. Also I'm 100% in favor of neighborhoods being notified when a sexual criminal moves to their neighborhood. Afterall, they were the one's who branded themselves.

Child molesters rarely commit their crimes only once. They need to be locked away forever, because they destroy the lives of society's most innocent members.

do you mean the same exact crime, or the same exact incident? a person cannot be tried for the same crime meaning the exact victim, day, so on....but a person can be a repeat offender which is what child molesters tend to be.
