I had a friend who lived in the Carina area and that place was constantly plagued by rats. They kept a clean home and even had a dog which chased them. It was just that there was a swamp nearby where they all lived and they would come close to the homes at night to scavenge.
Start by making sure they are not breeding in your roof or shed - place rate poison in your roof cavity /shed - look for the block type stuff that they drag back to their nest - that way the babies eat it too.
Clear out any rubbish from near the house - old cars, wood piles etc are breeding havens.
Clean all the fat out of your BBQ if you haven't already - that could be attracting them. Go to Bunnings and get the Redheads BBQ cleaner - it works a treat.
I would suggest getting your house treated by a professional if none of that helps.

try pan searing them in olive oil and garlic glove,some parsley and lemon pepper you have a 4 star rat
