i am an architecture student, and i have pretty high ideological standards about almost everything i do. during the years i am observing that regardless the fact that this is supposed to be a higher quality, i keep getting crashed down by people and situations that are completely irrelevant to what i am or i am not doing. what is the key to a professional and personal succes in a case like mine? should ideology overcome greed and ambition or is it the other way round?is the answer somewhere in the middle or is there no answer to that and i should just keep focussing on whatever i want to achieve ideologically, enjoy the personal profits of this and suffer the consequences?

see your self as successful and you will be. only you can set the bar for your achievements. what others think is irrelevant. you are already a success....just waiting to be expressed.

Read Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. or maybe start with The Fountainhead. These two books have gotten me through more crises' when ever I felt my ideological beliefs swaying, or I was tempted to succumb to pure gross commercialism. Or not even commercialism, just kowtowing to an easier end. It would appear to me that you have very high standards, and I know you wouldn't be satisfied sacrificing them to do the "easy" thing. Besides, no one ever died on a Top Ramen diet for an extended period of time! These two books are priceless, when you see how the protagonists overcome adversity when we ALL would pack it up because it was too much, yet they would not sacrifice their belief? Incredible!
