Route 66 is approximately 2400 miles long. You need to determine how large your gas tank is. How many miles you get to a gallon and a full tank of gas. Multiply this by the average price of gas on your route and multiply that by the miles you will be traveling.

Ex. I have a 2006 Accord. I get 350 miles on a full tank of gas. On a trip like this I would have to fill up 7 times. If I filled up at current gas prices by me at 3.15 a gallon this trip would cost me 315.00.

350 miles/full tank X 7 fill ups = 2450 miles

most of Rt 66 no longer exists anymore. it has been replaced by I-40 ,I-44 and I-55. What does exist is some really interesting low speed roads. of note the stretch from the Colorado river to Ashfork AZ.
California has the most expensive gas Missouri the least.
have a good trip

well to go the entire route 66 from chicago to Los angeles, you ar looking at approximately 2300 miles. Therefore it is going to depend on what type of gas mileage your car gets and the current gas prices. If you base it at$2.89 per gallon and your car averages 15 miles per gallon then a one way trip would cost you around $443.00.If your car averages 25 miles per gallon then it would cost you$265.00.If your car averages 35 miles per gallon then you could make it on $190.00.

Route 66 doesn't exist anymore, so nothing. Unless you want to travel where it was.

Just want to say that RoyB gave the funniest (unintentional) answer I've ever seen.

$17,000 in gas???

LOL

By his calculations, your car must only get one mile to the gallon. Nice math there, buddy...

wikipedia says it's 2448 miles long.

so around here gas is about $3.50/gal, so 3.50 x 2448 = $8568

if you're going on a trip then you gotta come back, so $17,136

i say spend a hundred bucks on greyhound :P
or walk

but it all really depends on what kind of car you drive.
