You can contact the Red Cross. They will allow you to set up a Pay-Pal account through them in your friends/family's name. Then when people see it, if they want to donate money it's secure and they will know that. It's kind of cool! I had a friend do it and she was able to post the info on websites like E-Bay, Amazon, etc. Hope this helps! My prayers to the family!

I sympathize with the family that lost everything in the fire. What my family did when my sister lost her home and belongings due to a fire is post it in the local newspaper. We had set up a deposit only account at the bank and let the community know that they could make donations into that account, and also if they had anything they could donate(material items: household items, clothes, etc. to contact us) We also set up donation cans all over town. We got quite a bit of help for her doing it this way.
You could also hold a benefit dinner. Organizations around town may be able to help with that, like the Kiwanis, Lions Club, etc.
As far as getting Yahoo involved, I don't know about that...but maybe someone will.
Good luck and God Bless to you and the family....

You will need to contact Yahoo's corporate office, to find out if they will help. Also, the local news stations should run the story. She if the local bank will set-up an account for all incoming donations. Go around to local convenience stores, and ask to set-up a collection jar. Go to the local churches, and ask for their assistance. Contact American Red Cross, and the United Way for assistance. Good luck. I will say a prayer for the family and their lost pets.

You will have a better chance if you do this at the community level. Get their neighbors involved, contact a local radio station, news paper about advertising for a fund raiser. Perhaps a barbecue and tag sale. Maybe a local band would entertain for free. Do they go to church? Many churches have emergency funds and members who would be willing to help with donations, food etc.

For immediate help, the Red Cross or Salvation Army usually try to give some lodging/food/clothing assistance. Then their insurance should kick in. If it doesn't, they can make the insurance look like jerks by going to their community reporter for the local television station.

i don't believe there is any way to get yahoo involved...around my town (very small town) they put out cans to collect money in...they have information on the side about the circumstances of whom it is being collected for...run an ad in the paper, also talk to ministers, friends, family, anyone that will listen...have a SECURE place to deposit the moneys collected so people will feel better about donating
