There are actually a few things you could do with a degree in psychology. It really depends on your major. The two main majors I can think of is Clinical Psychology, and Educational Psychology. For most jobs you would need at least a Master's Degree, and many require a Doctorate. With a Psychology degree you could be a school counselor, you could work in a clinic, you could do social work, you could do research, there are many things you could do! You should check with colleges in your area and see which ones carry psychology majors, and go from there. Good luck!

If you are interested in inner workings of the brain, it really has more to do with neurology (which is an area of medicine). Psychology, in contrast, deals mainly with emotional life.
Most practicing psychologists are therapists. They talk to their patients or observe them in an attempt to figure out the underlying causes of their emotional problems or behavioral disorers. Therapists have at least a Master's degree (a PhD or a PsyD is very common) and are licensed. Some therapists are generalists, some specialize. Specializations are numerous, here are a few: children, marriage/relationship counseling, grief counseling, anger management, parenting issues (including situations when there are children with special needs in the family), substance abuse, trauma.
There are also psychologists involved in pure research. The range of subjects is enormous, from cognitive errors to group dynamics...

If I may, I think you need to see what you may be interested in as a profession first. I wouldn't recommend just a bach.'s in psych. b/c there's not a lot you can do with it, however with a BS in social work you get courses in psych, soc, and social work, and there are a lot more job opportunities in the field. In addition, you could always minor in psych to get more of the psych~ that's what I'm doing. And you can still pursue a job as a therapist, or go on to be a psychiatrist, w/ more education of course. I looked thoroughly into this and spoke with a lot of professionals in the field before making my decision to go BSW/MSW- while I was a program director of a group home (I know I NEVER want to be a boss again!!!!) Good Luck!!!

Don't do it! I have a 4 year and it was a complete waste of time...People these days don't wanna talk about thier problems they want pills...If you are interested in helping people but also making good money..become a Psychiatrist...that way you can talk to people about issues but if they need meds u can give it to them...but at your disgretion....but as for Psychology...don't waste your time.
