I have these nightmares sometimes twice a week. Ive never been in one or seen one, so they don't really concern me, because I don't experience them where I live. But in my dream I am so terrified that I have woken up crying and gasping for air. Any clues?

The tornado is a symbol of something in your life that you feel is out of control. When you dream of the tornado again review what you did that day/ or day before. Was there anything that you didn't want to do but was forced to do? Did someone visit who tries to be controlling or maybe someone who has no respect for you or your property. I bet if you look over the days you have the dreams you'll find a constant factor. Then, there's your answer. Usually we tolerate a lot in life and repress our feelings, dreams are a way of telling us that something is going on that should/ or shouldn't be. Good Luck!

I had tons of tornado dreams growing up 20 years ago and more. I've been within a few blocks of one that didn't touch down (in Washington, DC after September 11, curiously), but I've never been directly affected by one. I've never had tropical storm or hurricane dreams, but I've been through one of each. I've had one tsunami dream, just before I left Hawaii, none since I've been back, and no actual tsunamis--so far.

Some folks say a disaster dream is just an expression of feeling overwhelmed. Other folks say it's a sign your life is about to change in big ways, and they may even be positive.

I haven't for a bit now, but I've often dreamed about tornados. Usually one coming towards our house and freaking out, but stop dreaming it before it ever gets here. Never seen one either. My guess is that the dream probably comes from stress, and is pretty much when I've dreamed about them.
