Recently, my 13 year old son has become EXTREMELY interested in girls and always is either on the phone or online with girls from school. Today, I saw my son making out with this girl who lives down the street in my living room, but he doesnt know that I saw him. Im not sure if I should address him or if this is normal behavior...because I havent told my husband yet.

It's time for "the talk". Remember as stupid as we parents feel giving it, it can make all the difference in the world.

Don't you remember being 13 and full of hormones? Of course, it's normal! Either you talk to him or be sure his dad does about STD's and everything else you can think of to keep him safe. Sex is such a dangerous thing anymore for young people! It sure seems as if your son is wasting no time getting started. Information is not a bad thing., especially if it'll prevent pregnancy or a lifetime of herpes or worse. My condolences. P.S. - I have 4 sons and none of them was interested in girls until late teens. They stayed busy with sports and band and work. Maybe they're just shy and I was lucky!

Trust me, this sounds pretty normal. His hormones are kicking in. Now is the time to start instilling some sense about the responsibilities that go along with this interest like protecting himself and his partner from disease and unwanted pregnancies should it go any farther (and it eventually will), respecting another's space and feelings (that no is no!, etc.) and the knowledge that a healthy relationship is much more fulfilling than a superficial fling! You should talk to him frankly, but unjudgingly. Let him feel he can talk to you about anything, without being reprimanded. Best of Luck!

First of all, tell your husband, second, part of what is wrong with the upcoming generation, is the parents don't want to "address him". BULL****** this is your living room, does he pay your house payments, or rent? Is he giving you "couch money". If not, it is your responsibility as his MOTHER, not to mention the "responsible party" of the home where this "neighbor girl"
was half of a "making out" team, to let your son, and the parents of this girl know what the rules are in your home!!!! unless of course you are "OKAY" with being his "Friend" instead of his Mom.

well since he is only 13yrs old. well if u as his mom don't feel comfortable with him makingout w/girls at his age then just speak nicely and tell him. Or u don't feel comfortable w/ him makingout w/girls in ur livingroom then tell him not to in ur livingroom. I am 15. and i dont see it as polite to make out with or have any physical contact with a bf. in front of family or anyone really. But my 17yr old sister well she don't care. but she was making out w/ her bf in front of our 12 &11 yr old siblings and my mom didn't think it was good for them to see or it wasn't a good influence on them so she told my sister to not do that stuff around the kids. But also here is one good thing that you should be glad about as a mother believe me on this yeah i ain't a mom but i do know this thing. See i know what other kids have done around my age and i know they do that stuff cuz they aren't in front of an adults eye. so i am proud of mysel for not doing things like that. so you should be glad that atleast you witnessed first hand what and how ur son acts around girls his age. So you can prepare for how he will act when he is my age. You may know how to handle it. Also im saying atleast you saw what he does cuz it was in the livingroom see he didn't know you were there so did he go any furthr? Well no so if i were you i'd be proud cuz he knew to stop at makingout. Also my brother is turning 13 and he is going into that phase too so i know a little bit. Just keep an eye on ur son. But don't go overboard and spy just keep a eye on him. To keep him safe. Thats what i would do. Good Luck! I hope i helped you in some way!!!

Have you done the safe sex talk yet? More than often he knows he is supposed to use a condom and all that stuff. Make sure you help him see that Sex is a huge responsibility, though fun and all that there can be many consequences. Make sure he knows and all you can do is talk to him about it, but dont be forceful, if you push him he will go and do it for the heck of it. Make sure you help him understand why people have sex, I guess I should say why people who love each other have sex. Good luck, You'll be fine

I would make sure that it was nothing more than kissing girls he is way to young to have babies and I don't think that your ready to be a grandma. I would let him know what the consequences are for his actions ahead of time before it's to late and if it keep happening then tell you husband.
