offering to pay is a very nice gesture. if they refuse to let you pay, then they are obviously doing it as a friendly gesture and offering a smaller payment such as a tip might look like you don't want to accept their friendship and that you would rather buy your way out. just tell them how much you appreciate the facial and leave it like that. it will go a lot further than a few bucks.

An amount that would be commensurate with the actual value.
If it's worth $50, tip 20% =$10

20% is a good answer...if it's something that you would've gotten done and paid full price for I'd go with 50%...if facials aren't really your thing and your just doing it for kicks then 20% is perfect.
Remember Complimentary means the esthetician isn't making money on it unless you tip.

if he/she offered to do it for free and he is doing the facial him/herself I wouldn't tip, I mean that kind of defeats the whole point of it being free (it's like a gift, you wouldn't tip for a gift would you?) if you're still not sure just ask "are you sure you don't want anything for your trouble?"
if he/she just owns the place or something and is having someone else give you the facial then you might want to consider tipping the person who actually does the work, I would tip the same way you do for hair and everything

Generally, you tip 15 to 20% But because it's a free Bs, $20 will do it. Unless u are really rich!

Depends on how good of a facial you receive in my opinion...after that it's just a matter of how comfortable you are with tipping for services you receive, no matter what, it's better to tip those who often depend on that income, (unless they are rude or don't attend to your needs)...afterall they will make sure your looked after whenever you go there again.
Enjoy :-)

Go with the 20% of the cost. That's the norm.

20%. I'll give a higher tip if you were 'hooked up." Again, if he's hooking you up, that probably means -0- full price. 20%
