I am a landscaper. I our area, southeastern PA, we often plant large evergreens for customers. The largest we have done are 12-14 ft. They are very difficult to move (the root balls on that size weigh up to 800 lbs!), and installed, cost around $500.00 each. Larger are possible, but not practical unless you want to spend a LOT of money. The most common size we install are 7-8 foot, and those run around $200.00 each installed. The price will vary depending on type. Spruces typically are the most expensive, while white pines are the least expensive.
The prices I gave you are what we charge to install. Pickup, delivery, peat moss, installed, mulched and with a one year guarantee. If you wanted to buy the trees and install them yourself, you would pay about half of that. Unless you have the proper equipment, it would be a lot of work! I have seen homeowners buy their own trees and install them, but usually when they decide they want more, they call me. It was too much work the first time.
The first thing you want to do is decide what type of tree you want. White pines are very fast growing, but don't stay as neat as the spruces and firs. Then, go to a local nursery and see what they have. Many nurseries offer installation for an added fee. Or you could call a landscaper. Good luck!

RE:
How large of an evergreen tree can someone buy?
I am thinking of buying some large evergreen trees for my land, and I want to know what is the largest size I can buy and how much would they cost approximately? I just don't feel like waiting years for 3 foot trees to grow.
Any information will be appreciated.

A hawthorn is a deciduous tree, so wouldn't provide the cover in the winter. It's relatively slow-growing too. A quick-growing conifer is leylandii, you can buy them in large pots, to provide an instant screen. Water it well, though, every day, until it's established. Another thing to consider is bamboo, the taller types, although they are really expensive. Not sure which garden centres there are near you, but try a tree nursery, as opposed to a garden centre, for more specialised knowledge.

The largest size tree that is easy to plant for a homeowner is a 24" box tree for anywhere from 200-500$$ At this size, the tree will definitely make a statement in your yard.

By far, the largest I ever saw was a Canadian hemlock. Used to have one in the front yard of a house I lived in. It was at least 65 feet tall. If you are looking to create a privacy screen, look into Leyland cypress trees. They grow exceptionally quick, and to a height of 35 to 40 feet.

there is a company in holland that sells full grown trees, im not sure of the price, but there are other companies as well, it isnt cheap! the roots are grown as a ball , a digger makes the hole and a digger drops it in, there are specialised machines that can extract tree roots more or less intact, . good luck.
