Ritz Carleton IS the best (WTG) but since you posted this under San Diego, I am going to go with a couple of other choices: If money isn't an object then The Hotel Del Coronado,
If you just want romance, bayfront windows, great food, then the Catamaran or Bahia . If you want to look out over San Diego Bay go to Bartellhotels.com they have some awesome propeorties in San Diego.
Back up to Orange Co? The Marriot is nice too, It's the one in Newport across from big shopping center, (not that you're gong to shop...)

Check out Paradise Point Resort & Spa. It is a Noble House Resort and verrry nice.
