eugene pays $ x
lauren pays half as much as eugene ie. x/2
and twice as much as max => max pays x/4

total = x + x/2 + x/4 = 7x/4

total cost of tv = eugene + lauren + max

eugene = x
lauren = eugene/2 = x/2
max = lauren/2 = (x/2)/2 = x/4

total cost = x + x/2 +x/4 = 4x/4 + 2x/4 + x/4 = 7x/4

Eugene pays = X
Lauren pays = X/2
Max pays = X/4
Total = X + X/2 + X/4
= 4X/4 + 2X/4 +X/4
= 7X/4

Eugene= x
Lauren = x/2
Max = x/2 x 1/2 =x/4
therefore;
x+x/2+x/4
4x/4+2x/4+x/4= 7x/4

Eugene pays x
Lauren pays half as much as Eugene, so she pays 0.5x
Lauren pays twice as much as Max so Max must pay = 0.25x (as 0.5x = 2 * 0.25x)

Total cost = x + 0.5x + 0.25x = 7/4x
