23 on the small side.
If the small side is x, then the long side is 5x. That makes the perimeter x+x+5x+5x or 12x.
12x=276
x=276/12
x=23
There for the rectangle is 23cmX115cm.

Perimeter of a rectangle is given as = 2*(length+width)
it is given as 276 centimeters.
now since a relationship has been given between the 2 variables i.e. length & width therefore it can be solved by assuming one variable say width be 'x'
it implies that length would be '5x'
now putting the values in the eqn.
2*(5x + x) = 276
2*6x = 276
12x = 276
:- x = 276/12 = 23 centimeters
so the dimensions are length = 5x = 115 centimeters
width = x = 23 centimeters
hope that this would have cleared u the concept

Well Perimetre means the total measurement of the outside of the rectancgle. That is if you start from one corner of the rectancle and walk the entire outside line of the rectancle and reach once again to the starting point the total distance covered is perimeter.
So if length of the rectangle is L( in cm) and breadth of rectanlge is B( in cm) then perimeter would mean L plus B plus again L plus again B, because you have to cover all four sides that is two times length and two time breadth So it is L+B+L+B or
2L +2B .
Length is 5 times breadth. Let us assume breadth as x cms then
length would be 5 times of x that is 5x cms.B=x andL=5x
So 2L+2B would become 2X x plus 2X 5x
2x+10x =12x
So 12x =276
x= 276 divided by 12 =23 cmsThat is breadth is 23 cms and Length is 115 cms
you can verify 23+23+115+115=276cms

Define width as w and hence length is 5w. Therefore 2w + 10w = 276, solve to find w = 276/12 = 23. So the rectangle has widt of 23 cm and length of 5 x 23 cm = 115cm. Verify that this gives the correct perimeter: 115cm + 115cm + 23cm + 23cm = 276cm.

P = 2(l + w)
l = 5w
276 = 2(5w + w)
276 = 2(6w)
276 = 12w
w = 23
l = 5(23)
l = 115
Length = 115 cm
Width = 23 cm

The sides would be x and 5x.
Perimeter is 2(x) + 2(5x)
2x + 10x = 276
x = 276/12= 23
so the sides are x=23 cms and 5x = 115 cms

let the width be x,
then the length is 5 times its width, 5x
the perimeter is 2 times (length + width)
therefore 2(x+5x)= 276
12x=276
x= 23
therefore width=23, length=5x=115

rectangle two sides are 5 times longer than the short side. Perimeter is 276 cm.
SO,
276 cm = 5x + 5x + x +x
276 cm = 12x
divide both sides by 12
23 cm = x
so one side of the rectangel is 23 cm, the other side is 115 cm.

x=width of rectangle
5x=lenght of rectangle
2(x) + 2(5x) = 276
2x + 10x = 276
12x = 276
x = 276 / 12
x = 23
x = 23 - width of rectangle
5x = 5(23) = 115 - lenght of rectangle
