I'm an American, does that make me a "Westerner"? I don't hate Muslims because of terrorism. I don't hate Muslims. I dislike the actions of certain individuals, but hate a person or persons? Hate is a very strong word, one that is not easily "taken back" and should be used with extreme caution especially with in reference to a person or group of persons. I do however think that people can be conditioned to fear certain people. Maybe that is what you are witnessing? Fear and hate are often confused and it seems that hating a person or a group of persons has become in some sections of the world a license to kill. Fear is seen as weakness. It is too bad, because if everyone was able to see every one else as human and like themselves I think we would see a lot less violence!

Westerners that hate Muslims probably do so because they are angry about terrorism, especially since 9/11. They do not understand the Muslim religion. They do not know that most Muslims are peaceful and prayerful people. They do not understand that it is only the extremists that are causing the problems with terrorism. They are fearful of what they do not understand, and therefore they hate all Muslims.

You can't answer this for all westerners. I don't know of a more eclectic group of people. Besides, many Westerners are Muslim! In general, Westerners hate terrorists for terrorism, not Muslims. Does it perhaps make Westerners a little more leery of those who look Middle Eastern? Probably, because everybody bases current reactions to their past experiences, and terrorism carried out in the name of Islam dominates the news in the West. Most Western people conciously overcome these feelings.

No...moreso it's an identifying factor of the terrorists who created 9/11. All the people who carried out the terrible acts were Muslim. It would be as when the U.S. put Japanese-Americans into concentration camps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor: it was done to protect Americans. In this case, it's kind of like an act of fear; any freightened creature can cause more damage than a predatory one due to the nature of the emotion, there's little to no rationalization. But even more than fear are the feelings of hurt and anger for the losses during 9/11.

If you are speaking of the western world and not western movies I can only say that people with small minds do. Some Muslims never leave the area they grew up in and are barraged by propaganda over the radio and TV in which they live.

I think you're stereotyping westerners. Not all of us hate Muslims, any more than all Muslims hate us. I despise the acts of the terrorists, but I also despise the acts of the murderers and rapists in Western society. I hate the deed that was done, not the group of people who produced the person who did it.

Not the Muslims, but they are unfortunately very wary and tend to stereotype. Only the terrorists are hated. I am sorry if you have been a victim. Most people are sensible enough to not act out without a real reason. Only the fools act out on impulse and false info. Please don't judge us all by the actions of a few. The fact that you asked the question means you are better than the bad guys...

I don't hate Muslims..I am against terrorists though of any culture that feel it is their duty to kill innocent people in the name of "religion". Most Westerners are not brought up from their youth to hate other countries the way many of these terrorists are.

I have been to many Western countries and I have never seen people "hate" Muslims. it is a major crime to "hate" someone because of religion. Still, some less-educated people are still stereotyping people.
