Well I am a Makeup artist and just to let you know the Smoky Eye look is IN right now. I love doing the smoky eye look and the best way instead of wearing all black is to do the same preperation just use color from pink to blue, just make sure you cordinate with the outfit. Try that and I will bet you will try it again and again. I just dont like using black alot.
If you do this look make sure, you with use eye liner in pencil or liquid you can get that in color also.
If you eyes are: Blue
Try: Brown and rose. Warm shades contrast the coolness of blue eyes, making them stand out. Apply from lashlines to creases and top with black mascara.
If you eyes are: Brown
Try: Green and gold. Both shades will pick up the colored flecks found in brown eyes. Choose a slightly shimmer texture, and apply from lashlines to browbones, blending well.
If you eyes are: Green
Try: Lavender and mocha. Purple shades contrast your color, making eyes look dramatic; warmer shades of mocha complement green, giving a natural effect. Wear mocha for day, lavender for night, and top both with brown mascara.
If you eyes are: Hazel
Try: Deep green and pale yellow. Depending on your mood, choose a shadow shade that matches different flecks in your eyes. For a twist, apply shadow, then line eyes with the same color, using a liner brush dipped in water.
Anyone-Can-Wear-'Em-Shades: Charcoal, chocolate, black. (Tip: Since they can look heavy on the lid, use these colors as liners to complement any shadow hue.)
To apply pencil liner precisely, gently pull the outer corner of your eyes so your lashes make a straight line. Angle the tip of the pencil toward your lashes and lightly draw from inner to outer corner.
I hope that works.

I would say the steps are to first go out and buy yourself two eyeliner pencils in a smoky gray color and also a brown color. Take the pencil and put a thin line from the corner of the edge of the outer eye to the center of your eye. Take your finger and smudge the eyeliner straight across your eye until you get to the corner of your eye. Finish with a black mascara but only put it on the outer lashes never underneath. Three coats of mascara should give your eyes the uplifted and mysterious look that is so pretty.

Use these products from Mark- Tough Luxe I-Mark eyeshdaow ($4), Java I-Mark eyeshadow ($4), and their Blending Brush ($5) and Eyshadow Brush ($5).
1. Sweep Tough Luxe over eye lid, using eyeshadow brush, starting along the lash line and extending up toward the brow lightly.
2. Sweep Java onto lids.
3. Dip blending brush into Tough Luxe and blend the two colors together into the crease for a sultry smoky look.

hey!the best way to get tht smoky eye look is to use a black kohl pencilon the lower lid a liner for the upper lid and add a dash of black eye shadow. bt if u dont have a black eye shadow not to worry u can still manage while u r puttin kohl on the upper lid, jus' smudge it slightly by the end btu gotta be extra careful for tht! i'd like to give u one more advise plzz dont ever overdo the smoky eye look nd never ever do it in the mornin' the summer or the monsoons

first prime your eyes with a liquid foundation(blended in of course) this will prevent your shadow from forming creases & will allow it to stay on longer. To get the smokey eye look apply a darker shade at your lash line, then go with a medium shade & finish with a lighter shade ate the crease of your lid. To finish the look line your eyes with a black (or dark) eyeliner...it's best to line your eyes last.
There are lots of shadow pallets now that have complementary colors(meaning they look good together) those may be the easiest to use if you're going for another color other than black.

If I were you, I would go to a make up counter in like Dillards like Lancome or MAC and ask them to show you how to do the smokey eyes and tell you step by step what they are doing and what they use, Most of them will be happy to show you so you can learn for yourself
That is what I did when I wanted smokey eyes and now everyone loves them!

whenever i want to achieve this look, i start with a black liquid liner along my top lashes, then applying either a dark brown or black eyeshadow from my lashes outwards ( don't go past the crease in your eyelid though) using a eyeshadow sponge applicator rather that a brush, then apply a black pencil eyeliner on the inside of my lower lashes and then smudge the eyeshadow just a little bit. works everytime for me :)

Instead of using black eyeshadow for smokey eyes, try using a deep purple or a rich chocolate brown.

first you put on a natural color of eyeshadow on the lid with like a dark grey or purple along the outer corners and the same color along the bone just under your brow to the top of your lid. apply mascara after FiRST wiping the mascara wand on toilet paper to de-clump it. put mascara on the top and the bottom but not too much on the bottom. after that put black eyeliner on just on the bottom and a little on the top. don't use liquid eyeliner...it smears too much-good luck!!
