... then they must be evil. But that is very far from the truth, all of their songs are religious. They are angry at God in some, but others are about the struggle to be close to God. Does anyone else see the music this way?

well james hetfield was raised in a christian upbringing. but i dont think all the songs are religious. some are. one song on the black album called The God That Failed is about his mom being a christian scientist, she had cancer and he believes that if she would have gotten medical help, she could have survived. but yah, some of the songs are religious. but they arent a religious band. lol. i mean they were musically inspired by Venom(an 80's black metal band). i dont wanna offend you, but i think that people should have their own beliefs about faith without having people critisizing them. theres something that marilyn manson(yes marilyn manson)said in an interview. he said "the thing you can go to bed feeling happy is knowing that you do stuff that you belive in" some of their songs are about manipulation(the concept for 1986's master of puppets) Ride the lightning was mainly about death. i dont think that just because a rock band doesnt sing in the name of god, then they are evil. they are evil if they love murder, death, satan.

I think you're just trying to rationalize for the sake of it. I can remember very few Metallica songs off the top of my head that have any religious content one way or another. That said, I don't think they're evil and people who think all metal is the tool of Satan are nothing more than closed-minded ignorant fools. I've fought with people for hours on end trying to convince people that bands like Iron Maiden ("The Number of the Beast") are not satanic in the least. If people would actually listen to the songs and read the lyrics, you get a much different impression.

Alot of people started to hate Metallica cause of the Napster thing. Others hate them cause after the Black album (the best one) got crapy and didn't like how they cut there hair.

Some people say Ozzy is evil too.

Back in the 70's people said Kiss (Kids In Satan's Service as they the people called it) was evil.

No matter what time it is there will always be a rock band that is call evil.

The only music that is evil is Rap.

People don't think that anymore. Stop trying to act like you know something. Metallica is a great band, and I like R&B music. Metallica is just one of the few bands that people from every kind of culture can like.

Some of it is, but not all of it. I love them too. I think their music is amazing, and they are one of the best bands out there. As for the religious themed songs, just take a look at Creeping Death. That is one of the most obvious ones. But Enter Sandman, was about James' nightmares as a child.

Yes.
Though Metallica is widely viewed as Goth rock, their stuff is more Christian Metal than anything else.
