and ignores when other girls go missing or murdered. Case and point...In Clemson a rich white girl was murdered...the local news stations would interrupt programming to give details of the case...a day later a black girl ...college girl...was murdered and hardly any coverage at all. What`s up with the lopsided coverage?

The sociological instrumentalist viewpoint states that 'media will present views that perpetuatie a class based system'. In my opinion, the media decides to display more coverage on events involving white and rich individuals in order to subjugate everyone else (blacks, asians, hispanics etc).

Think about it, the class based system, where the rich and white are at the top, want to maintain power. They show more coverage of white events, less of black (and other colours) events, and even more of white events caused or inflamed by black persons. The fact is that everyone knows this, and the media knows this too, but wants to show that white people are far more important/superior/deserving of attention than people of other races and ethnicities.

That's simple... Racism, not only by race, but also by social class and background. Another issue is the sensationalism they broadcast to the whole world make it appear like "we are the rich nation" mentality when in reality we're sinking in the mud. The news today doesn't bring any equallity and balance to the world to see.

You must have not been born yet or still in bed when a young african-american female came to light, Tawana Brawley. She was not killed but her alleged beating by white males and left in a trash can for dead was headlines allover then. Turned out to be bogus though.

probably because the people that own the media outlets might not see people of color as really worth covering unless as criminals. Also, culturally, look at the term minorities...that term in it self seems to label people of color or non caucasians as a lesser form.

I have long wondered why that is myself. Every person should have the same coverage. No matter their color of financial status.
