I left no return address or phone number, just wanted to say sorry.

This is not something for AA, but it is a good idea for my own mind...I need peace inside.

If I received such a letter I wouldn't be able to think straight till I got beyond the fantastic feelings of receiving a heartfelt apology over something that I may or may not have even remembered. And once I got to the point of thinking, I'd probably think that you're one of the greatest people that ever walked planet earth. It's so hard to imagine anyone being so warm hearted and contrite nowadays in this pathetically self-centered world that I would feel transformed by that letter. I'm sure you've made someone awesomely happy. God Bless you.

If I read what I was a genuine apology, I'd be touched. But you'll never know how it was received since you put no return on it, a 2nd letter now with a return address would mean your fishing for forgiveness and would blow the whole deal. If you need to send a letter to another person , put the address on, but don't send another letter to the 1st person.

Depends on the circumstances. I once sent an anonymous letter to a guy that I stole from (I found out he was using me to cheat on his girlfriend.) I sent him the money back because I became a christian-(I made sure he understood that) but I did not sign it or anything cuz I was afraid he'd go to the cops with it as evidence. It may be a long time coming for this person to hear "I'm sorry"-how very humble of you-I think you did the right thing.

i think that is so cool.i had a similar thing happen .years ago i thought my best Friend hated me for being seen driving with her boyfriend ,who she just broke up with and i didn't know . he saw me walking and ask me i need a ride, so i did to look for her and when i found her she thought i was doing her boyfriend . damn wrong place wrong . she wouldn't talk to me long enough to explain. I had since moved to ALASKA and went home for a visit. I found out where she was living and took the chance to see her 12 years latter. she was so happy to see me as i was her. and she never even remembered it. I wish i would of known when she forgot so i could have been Friends again. God Bless and good luck.lol

It depends on what the person was apologizing for, but regardless, I imagine that I would feel good about it. A heartfelt apology is a wonderful thing to receive.

I know its one of the steps you do in "AA" .
Step 8 - "Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all."
For the person who sent the letter, for him/her its not important what the receiver thinks. They are willing to make amends and they did. They acknowledge and admit that they hurt you, and apologise.
I think its a noble thing to do and takes a lot of courage!
I'd say accept and forgive!

It depends on if I remembered the particular incident or not and if it was something I considered major.

I would probably be glad that the sender finally got closure to the problem and I would just let it go.

Karma was in town. No, you know that the 12 step program, for drinking, druging, and so on, have a step where one needs to make amends for past actions. I bet that this came from some one in the program. they have helded on to this for a long time. You need to let it go, also.

I think I would be touched and happy to receive it. I myself have looked for someone that I was mean to once, in the hopes of apologizing to her, but I've never been able to find her.

I think, that person's conscious it not letting him or her live peacefully. Must be feeling guilty about wrong doing. It has happen to me - I am looking for the person whose 'kite' I had damaged during my childhood to apologize, as after all this years I still feel guilty about it.
