I dont mean the kind where your spinal cord it ripped out of your brain, I mean just someone hanging themselves in the basement or something

Eddie... you are concerning me...hope you aren't thinking anything negative here... it depends...hanging executioners used to have a formula based on a person's height, and weight, and also age as to how long the rope should be as well as the length of the drop. Some "hangees" died in the fall as it snapped their neck, and some struggled for 15 minutes or more as the noose tightened slowly around their windpipes.

If the rope is correctly placed ( meaning that the placement of the knot on the noose is at or near the base of your neck) and that the neck is instantly snapped (caused by a short drop/distance/length of the rope) death is nearly instantaneous. Best if you have a professional do it for you but he'll want the cash (no check) up front. Please tell me that this is for a science paper and not something you plan on doing.

It depends on how you hang. You could break something & instantly die or sit there gaggin for like, 10 minutes

At least a couple of mins. First you have to be so lack of oxygen to pass out, then you will become brain dead, and then your body dies.

if the neck is broken, intstantly -ish. strangulation, about a minute or two. horrible way to go.
