ok this is what you do: put your feet shoulder-width apart. if your right handed, put your right foot slightly ahead of the other, if your left handed, vice versa. point your right hand (or your left) to your right toe. then point your finger directly up.then point it to the sky, but make a right angle with your elbow, shoulder, and finger. Open your fingers like your holding a basketball. your index finger should be pointing at your eye. take you other hand (your guide hand)and with your thumbs make a sideways T. then shoot. Trust me. this works. emila me if you live in Southern Cali.

The left hand is a guide as you said, but it is primarily used as a 'rest" or a "stabilizer". If you can convince yourself to use it as more of a stabilizer than a guide, your shooting will improve. I would advise you to watch film of great shooters. Jordan, Rex Chapman, George Gervin, or since you are so young, watch J.J. reddick. Immulate what they do and it will help you.

it is very hard to shoot jump shots with one hand. but try facing your left side to the hoop(if your right handed) or right side to the hoop (if your left handed). then try a hook shot. just fling your shooting hand to the hoop.hopefully you make it. if you do, you will get picked faster. you can also do one handed layups, which are not hard to do once you practice.
