Which is better, window A/C or split A/C?

I plan to install an A/C in my home. Please suggest which A/C is better; split A/C or window A/C.

I don't understand what SPLIT A/C is???

We have Central A/C PLUS a window A/C Unit. 2 story house. The Central A/C doesn't cool off the upstairs efficiently.

Go with central air. I will cool the whole house off faster than a window a/c and I don't know what you mean by a split a/c.

If it is for a small/medium apartment go with window a/c.

That is what I plan on using in my place cause the central air that I have sucks and they don't know how to fix it so it works so I plan on getting a a/c unit and putting it by a open window inside my apartment so that they don't see it sticking out. I should also say that I'm on the top floor of my place so they wont see it when they go by either.

Assuming split AC means central. Depends on how much you will use it. Cental is way more efficient but costs a lot to install. Window costs much less to install, but is more expensive to run. In AZ, you get central, in MN, you get window.

Split A/C by any chance. It is more effective, less noicy and consumes less power.
