Not all fashionable people are soulless, but some soulless people are certainly fashionable.
I think in certain circles (social classes, certain careers), there is much pressure to be fashionable. There certainly is nothing wrong with someone liking to be in shape and dress well. The problem arises when people succumb to the temptation to make fashion their #1 priority in life, and become obsessed with owning a new outfit for every public outing and 200 pairs of shoes or more, à la Mariah Carey.
I say, wear whatever makes you feel happy, dress appropriately for the occasion, but don't be fooled into thinking clothes are more than tools we have at our disposal. Work on your inside so that what you wear reflects how great you are as a person, and not how shallow you are. There is a difference.
Clothes can only do so much. Once you make that first impression it is your character that counts. After all, don't absolutely gorgeous people get dumped all the time? I'm just saying that physical beauty can only take you so far in life.
If your personality includes a love of beautiful clothes, fine. The important thing is to remember that your soul should have beauty also, and clothes should reflect it and not be a pretty disguise intended to deceive the world with your appearance.

I think some people who are very interested in worthwhile things do use fashion as a form of self-expression. These people usually aren't the ones who wear the most popular-at-the-moment fashions, but they still take care in what they wear and get a lot of enjoyment in wearing interesting things.
I'm thinking of a very worthwhile person I know as I answer this and I assure you it isn't me! I can't put a decent looking outfit together to save my life!

As a fashiionable person i don't see fahionable people as being soulless because we as fashion addicts use fahion as a form to communicate on regular bases such as how do we feel and definately to express our sense of humor.

well yea sometimes its to superficial. but...there's alot of people out there with real talent that you cant deny, like they look good in everything and can make anything look good. they can go in a resale shop and come out looking like americas next top model. but when they get snobby then its just dumb.

it has nothing to do with fashion, its the person. money just allows you to exagerate your interests and believes and so you notice it more, but it is not the reason.
