the film appeared one time after I washed the glasses in the dishwasher. They are clean but I do not use them because they look terrible.

CLR works, but of course costs money. If you don' want to get off yer butt, you can use something you probably have around the house: Baking Soda. Dissolve a little bit either in the glass or in a dish and use a toothbrush to scrub the film away. This works great on etched and crusty looking Coffee decanters!

hope that helps!

Try a cleaning aid called "Glisten". It comes in a powder form and is usually only used to clean your dishwasher machine (as well as other household appliances). I found that it does a great job cleaning etched glasses as well as calcium spots on cutlery.

You can check out Yahoo! Shopping on where to get it and what to pay: http://shopping.yahoo.com/search?p=glisten&ei=UTF-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&fr=moz3&cop=mss&fr2=tab-web

I also added a link below for a good deal.

Also try not to use too much detergent, gel, or tabs when washing your dishes, since they are very concentrated and highly efficient in small doses nowadays.

next time you wash them in the dishwasher, in addition to your detergent, throw in an Electrosol tablet. (found along with the dish detergent at grocery store) Works pretty well, unless you have really hard water.... then the only thing that works is installing a water softener.

Try CLR, if it is a mineral film that should do it.If not and you have already soaked them in vinegar and the white film is still there, the glasses may be etched.

its not a film, its etching. the glasses got scrached by tiny particals when you washed them. only thing to do is to shell out 20 for new ones

mix Scrubbin' Bubbles with water and let them soak, I had the same problem. Also try Softsoap, I had some success with that.
