Does your computer recognize it in My Computer? It will give it a drive letter if it does. If it does, right click and select Format...

If My Computer doesn't see it as a drive letter, it means something has gone wrong internally (mainly the hard drive) and you will either need to have it repaired, or buy a new one if the repairs cost more than a new one.

Good luck.

We had the same thing happen to my daughter's ipod mini and we tried everything your told to do from the website. One day we were told to go the the mall and there was an Apple store in there that will repair our ipod but we found out that they only repair mac apple ipods and ours was an hp apple ipod which are the same thing except for the mac and hp so I got frustrated with the whole thing and just bought the ipod mini at best buy where they will repair it there with no hassles!

You unplugged it while it was updating. You should try resetting it, look under troubleshooting in the manual. You read the manual, and the over paid tech support will be fired, replaced by a real hard-core engineer.
