The states try to know where the sex offenders are but they lose track of them .As to your area , police dept . has an list of them .I use our police dept. for this ( as I manage an apt. with children and a school with in a block ) .They aren't suppose to be within a certain amount of feet from any school .And are suppose to up date address BUT....,.I'd say all areas may have them , they may live around there , they can drive there and they may have family there .No where is it so save that you should feel your perfectly safe or the family .I'm not saying " Be afraid to live " Just aware of people around you .You know if a 18 years old dates a 16 years old and have a relationship , if the parents want could take the 18 yrs. to court .Now labeled a sex offender.Even if the 16 year old feels hurt it didn't work out , can also say things in which the 18 yrs might be labeled for life. Not all cases are rape victims or children offenders .Some of these 14 yrs. look 19 yrs. Any way , just keep the rule , a stranger is a stranger , lady or man .

Hey. My old stumping ground.....Chicago Heights!!!!! was raised there. I'm sure there are, as there are other places. Do a search and type in " Registered sex offenders in Chicago Heights" or go to the Illinois Dept of Corrections website and they should have a link to put in your address, or one nearby, to check for registered sex offenders in the area. You can go to a offenders site in that county but to tell you the truth --They are everywhere -- Always be careful in your daily activities-no matter how trivial they seem. Every offender hasn't been caught and not all offences are reported . So always think before you choose to do foolish things and remember "better safe than sorry". what i would sugest to you is to either call your local police dept. and ask if their are any sexual offenders in your neighborhood/county,plus alot of times they will send out lil notice cards in the mail with their picture n address too,or look it up on internet under sexual pred`rs. i used to live in piqua,ohio and had two that lived less than 10 houses away from me and my family, it was a lil disturbing and worried us to death !! we have children so its only natural to be worried, but most of the time these sexual offenders mind their own. don`t bother them n they won`t bother you, but yes you do have to take precautions especially with young children in the neighborhood of course
