Besides the host country, Germany, I must say it is Brazil. The team itself is 5 times Cup winner and they have the depth that others don't. Over hundreds of media workers flew to Germany to cover not only on matches but also on their training and non-training sessions. Whenever Brazil plays a match, the whole country will rest. Shops will close earlier and people will stick to any TV that shows live broadcast. To them football is their religion!

What is the best country in terms of World Cup participation?

Participating as a team, audience, internet views, on tv, newspapers and everything related to the world cup.

Well since the question was asked in general with everything involved, internet views, TV, newspaper, audience and so on, and since the World Cup is held in Europe this time around it has to be one of the european countries if not the hosts themselves. I mean majority of brazilians or argentinians don't even have the internet or means to by newspapers, and if you didn't know, Germany has the most website per person in the world.

Well as ancient history says that Brazil is the best country in terms of World Cup participation because they have won 6 world cup games in total. So I would say Brazil

In terms of world cup participation definitely Brazil. most cups won most cups attended. but i believe that in terms of fans Internet views TV audience etc. it would be England. I'm not from England but here are my reasons: soccer or football was invented there. Brazil and Argentina although they are 2 of the best teams and they live and breathe soccer, it is still the English that are really the most enthusiastic. Brazil and Argentina know they are good, and that they normally get far in the finals, they are even a little stuck up at times. their fans live the last games. the semifinals the finals... but England has only won one world cup and that wasn't even fair. they live every single game in the groups round of 16 quarter finals everything. its not about their players being popular like beckham...its about the people on the streets.
but that's just my opinion lol.

I think that is quite pointless to say which country is the best, especially when looking at fans, tv etc... People have been saying that Argentina and Brazil are the best because everything stops there when the football is on.. Trust me guys it's like this everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! especially when their team is playing! And everyone is celebrating like crazy when their team is winning! If you are looking at craziest supporters ever that is definitely the English, but I am not sure whether it is a good thing :))
Well if looking at a team, for me it would have to be Ukraine... They have surprised everyone when qualified for 1/4 finals and managed to get back on their feet after a horrible start.. you have to be really strong psychologically to do that... Another great teams are Germany and Ghana! They have showed some good games... All the other 'monsters of football', like Brazil and Argentina have been really disappointing... They don't play that well...They have loads of experience and some reputation, but it's only a matter of time before new teams will beat them.

Uruguay of course, it only participates in a few World Cups, but it wins 2 and 2 olimpics game.
It only has 3 million people; it also beats Argentina in the 1930 finals and Brazil in 1950 final game.
It is like Uruguay teachs Argentina and Brazil how to play football.
The 3 millon stops for this World Cup and they are not playing. Imaging when they play....

Argentina by far!! they have had the hardest matches. Brazil STILL has not played a strong team so nobody can say Brazil has played good because anyone can play good against the types of teams they have faced.
Argentina tv has almost all day coverage, Nobody goes to work when Argentina plays and ALL Argentine living abroad follow the team closely. So until Brazil plays a strong team like German, Holand, Italy, England and plays good then you can say Brazil has showed the best participation in this world cup..until then....Argentina takes the cake!

In Brazil soccer is definitely a religion and the World Cup is the period when everyone goes to the temple to worship their team.

Brazil is the only nation that has participated in every World Cup.
Brazil won the tournament 5 times.
Brazil has been to the finals 7 times (as has germany with 3 wins though)
Brazil is the only country to have won outside of it´s continent.
Brazil has the longest sequence of wins: 11 (7 in 2002 and 4 up to now in 2006)
Brazil has the top scorrer in all world cups (Ronaldo 15 goals)
Brazil has won the fifa fair play award 3 times.

Any world cup game which brazil plays in is almost a national holiday. In this world cup when brazil played at 4 PM local time, all companies closed at 2 PM, including banks and government agencies. The country literaly stops to watch a ball game. And I am not even talking about the finals yet. 180 million hearts conected to the TV or radio to push their team ahead.

I was in argentina last week and wathed their game there. They stop too but it´s nothing like it is here.

A Group of protesters last week was in the main avenue in São Paulo (5th largest city in the world) parading naked to protest against corruption. They managed to spend quite some time in the avenue with nobody to bother them as everybody (incuding police) was watching the game!

This is footbal commotion in brazil!!!!

IF success is consiudered an element then Brazil, for all other elements England. WHoever said USA must be smoking crack! What coverage. They have commercials on when the teams hit the pitch. The commentary is horrible. There is half a page allotted for world cup in the newspapers. They have no fans. The fans they have have one cheer - U.S.A. - pathetic. And Europe obviously is not a country. I think last world cup Turkey brought a lot of flare, with their fans, coverage and their style of football as well.

Germany, the host country seems to be the best country in term of World Cup Participation.
They are able to assemble a great team under the suppervision of Coach Kinsman an Ex-player. They are bond to create a large audience at each of the stadium and on electronic and paper media. Germany will also be among leading country on internet view and TV viewers. Germany is a friendly host too. All in all i give it to the German.

In terms of participation: Brazil has been represented the most times. But for the other stuff. It has to be the birthplace of football: England. The English, where ever they live will stop what they are doing to tune in and watch their beloved England team progress through the World Cup.
