These actors have acknowledged using Method Acting as part of their technique:
* Al Pacino, Italian-American Actor, Director
* Dustin Hoffman, American Actor
* Paul Newman, American Actor, "I wanted to be the first animated character on screen to demonstrate method acting," referring to his role in the animated 2006 movie "Cars."
* George Peppard, American Actor, employed the technique in "Breakfast at Tiffany's"
Laurence Olivier was a non-method actor who famously said the following to Dustin Hoffman while filming "Marathon Man," when Hoffman gave up sleep the night before so his character would look exhausted: "Why don't you try acting, my boy: It's so much easier."

"I remember reading about how gutt wrenching it was for him while preparing for and performing certain roles like that he played in "Interview with a Vampire." If Brad Pitt were a method actor for that movie, he would have drank blood, stayed up all night and slept in a coffin. Prepping for roles can be strenous, emotionally and physically, but that does not mean it's method acting.
Method Acting - James Dean, Marlon Brando, and believe it or not, Tom Cruise. He wanted to have an injection that would temporarily paralyze him for Born on the Fourth of July - this would be the epitomy of Method Acting. Johnny Depp may fit into this role.
Non Method - Meryl Streep, Owen Wilson, probably Tom Hanks

Whenever he does a serious role (like Man on the Moon) Jim Carrey gets pretty into his role. He was sometimes answereing to "Andy" (his character name) on set. You'll generally find that the more slapstick of actors (those that have no interest in serious roles, or where the role does not require much emotional depth) don't have much of an interest in Method acting.

in my opinion, non-method actors are wannabes. method actors get all the way into the role, they becme one with the characters, i can't give you an example but i believe that Vin Disel started his career as a method actor, he's not so much of one anymore.
I don't pay much attention to non-=method actors.
