It depends on the reason for non-payment. If you intended from the beginning to defraud the furniture seller and maybe put false information on a credit application, you may be charged for theft. For example, you bought a dining room set but put false address or other identifying information on the sales transaction, so that the store would be misled if you failed to pay for it, and then you did in fact omit paying. If it's a matter of purchasing furniture and then later you lose your job or ability to pay for it, then it leans more towards civil court. Like most matters of law, the answer can be followed with the words "except" or "unless".

If you wrote a hot check theyll put a warrant out on you. And they have warrant round ups every couple of months. You can call the police to find out if one has been put out on you without them knocking your door down.

I do know that if you don't pay that the D.A. puts your name in the paper. Also, my friend was told that he would be put in jail if he didn't cough some money up quick. I don't know if they would have really done it because he did pay. Here in Hill County if you fall behind they put your name in the paper. Crazy huh? Oh, and it is the same way for loans too.

i dont think a warrent for ARREST can be issued for consumer related cases... but then u may have to deal this in court if the dealer files a case!
