It's the stupidest looking thing. The goth look is defended by the goths as being an "individual" but in reality, they all look more or less the same. What went wrong in their lives that made them wake up one morning and say, "Hey - I know what would be fun to do today - I think I'll go get some uneducated person to shove a metal shaft through my eyebrow!" Who thinks this is a good idea? I mean, people spend their lives trying to get rid of pimples. Why on earth would anyone in their right mind, put a giant metal wart purposely one their face? It doesn't impress employers. It doesn't impress teachers and professors. In fact, it causes people to not hire you and professors to not take you seriously. Really - inquiring minds want to know! Just because I'm curious! I really don't get it! Enlighten me!

First of all, you should know that not only goths and rockers get their eyebrows pierced.
I think people get their eyebrows pierced for the same reason people dye their hair, pierce their ears, wear make-up, etc. It's a look they like. The latter ones are just more socially acceptable. I think it's perfectly understandable that many people don't like piercings, but I strongly believe that those who make assumptions and judge people based on their looks are ignorant. I'm actually quite lucky to be surrounded by smarter people than that. I have my eyebrow pierced and I got it for two reasons. One, I think it looks cool and two, I think it's a way of saying 'F*** off!" to stupid ignorant people who would judge me based on looks. I wouldn't want acceptance from someone who would not take me seriously over something as simple as a piercing. We need to stop stereotyping people. I'm neither a goth who had something in their life gone wrong, nor a druggie. I'm a 20 year old full-time college student with good grades who also works full-time at an amazing community center as programs' director. I hope I answered your question and you realize that though it may look stupid to you, other people like it and should be respected and not judged based on their personal preferences regarding their looks.

They do it to get attention and to thumb their noses at the mainstream. They don't have to worry abought getting a job as they can have 5 kids and live off welfare or daddy's money in daddy's house rent free well over the age of over 25.

people get it pierced cuz they feel "different" when they get odd piercings. When really everone has them all though i tottaly think its hideous! People who are hiring for jobs more llikely wont hire you if you have piercings other than your ears.
