ok im going to Washington D.C. in november with my school. we are gong from ohio to there on a bus. what are some ways to stay busy on the ride there?

Go to Howard University and check in with the students for an eye opening view of D.C.

get somebody that can play guitar to bring one and have sing-along's
make some good mix music Cd's
some fun songs for a long trip are the old nautical songs like 'what do you do with a drunken sailor' and 'blow the man down' more can be found and lyrics with a quick web search
take a laptop with a DVD ROM & movies.....it could be shared with a section of 8 or so seats on a bus...secure it on the center isle
take a thick note pad & markers, lots of fun can be had.....'honk if you are going to d.c.' and silly signs are always fun & creative
don't forget to have everybody take pillows...because there is nothing like a good nap on a long trip
*something we did a lot on band trips*---we had a lottery of who would be the first to have to pee...(it also got people to wait as long as they could) everybody would write their name and who they thought would need to use the bathroom first on a notepad....who ever won got some small victory....like they got to pick what activity we did next, or which resturant we ate at

If you are taking a decent bus, there will be a DVD player and at least a half dozen little TV screens. Movies help a lot. IPOD, bring Stephen King's THE STAND, seriously, it will be one of the five best books you ever read, Play poker, hand held video game, talk on your cell phone if you have coverage, sleep (stay up late the night before).

Sing songs like 999,000 bottles of beer on the shelf.
Play cards, do crossword puzzels. Draw. Plan your first house. Do a resume for a summer job. Make a list of pictures you want to take for an album. Make your Christmas list. Plan your wardrobe for the next 6 months. Flirt with the opposite sex or whatever. Write a letter to your grandmother. ETC.

bring cards, music, books, movies(if you have a nice bus), and FOOOOD...o and camera so you can take crazy pics.......i went to canada from maryland last april with my school music department and it was AWESOME
