**Remember if the father takes one son over, he's left the other son with the mother. Same goes for the mother taking one daughter over.

Police takes thief-Police Comes Back
Police takes son-Police and thief come back
Father takes son-father comes back
Father takes Mother-Mother comes back
Police takes thief-Father comes back
Father takes Mother-Mother comes back
Mother takes daughter-Police and thief come back
Police takes daughter-Police comes back
Poolice takes thief!!!
DONE!!!!! (I actually played on the website so I promise I didn't break any rules)
By the way...the animations of the people knocking each other out if you break a rule...those are pretty weird. =)

Cannot stay on land, or in the boat? ‘Cause that makes a huge difference in how you answer the question.
Anyway, let’s go with on land:
The father takes the children, then the mother, then brings the boat back for the police officer, who then goes back for the theif.
Let’s now go with in the boat:
The father takes the sons, brings the boat back, the mother takes the daughters, then brings the boat back, the father takes the mother, then brings the boat back, then takes the police officer, who brings the boat back for the thief.
Let’s now go with both on land and in the boat:
The father takes the mother across, then heads back. The father takes one son, brings the mother back, then takes the other son across. The mother then takes the father, then the two daughters, brings the boat back for the police officer, who then takes the mother across, then comes back for the thief.
There are about five other ways it can be successfully done as well, given any of the three interpretations I asked about.
For instance, police takes prisoner, then takes father, father takes mother, then son, takes mother back, takes other son, mother takes father, then two daughters. The people can be switched around in several different ways.
The mother/father and son/daughter can be switched around.
I don't recall the rules saying anything about having to get off each time they reach shore...

the theif takes the sons over one by one, then the the father. the theif goes back and the mother takes the policeman over, then the theif. Finally the mom goes back for the daughters, lets them get on the raft, while she swims along the side telling them how to operate the raft!
