This happened to me a long time ago. We lost everything, I didn't even have on a pair of shoes on. Knowing that everyone is out of the house is the best feeling. Pictures and other stuff like that you may miss to some extent until you put the prosective that life is much more important.

Nothing matters more than my kids, so as long as I got them out, I would thank God. I dont see any reason in risking ones life just to save sentimental things. You may never be able to replace them, but how do you think your kids would feel when they lost you, just because you were trying to save something that had no real value.

My dad always told me that if the house burnt grab the photo album and the insurance policy those are the only things that are truly irreplacable. Personally I would probably try to pack everything I owned - even though I know it would be impossible.

Since I'm the Keeper of the Family Heritage, I'd have my husband head for the photo album shelf cause everything important is there. Then I'd grab my computer because it houses my ENTIRE 2000 name family tree.

My guitars and photographs. I had a house that flooded, and I got all of my valuables up off of the floor, but forgot that all of my kids' baby pictures were in a box under the bed and they were all ruined. It broke my heart. I would never want to lose all of my pictures again. That is something that cannot be replaced.

The remaining pictures fro my wedding day. The majority of them were stolen out of my wife's car and we had to collect what we do have from really bad pictures from friends & relavtives.

My case of CDs that have my data, MP3s (ripped from purchased CDs which were then destroyed - no piracy), pics and scanned books.

Everything else is replaceable.
