Do you need to apply for a patent or copyright or something like that first? What do you do with many great invention ideas when you have no knowledge of what to do with them?
Not sure if marketing is the right category for this topic, but not sure any other categories were any closer to this either.

NOLO is a great, free informational site. Also, be sure to read what the USPTO (United States Patent & Trademark Office) has to say about patents.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* The Complete Idiot's Guide ® to Cashing in On Your Inventions by Richard Levy

There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.

yes there is a way ...
what you do is firstly you buy a patent on the item you have just invented...
then what you do is ....
you go up to a heaps big company and try to negotiate with em ....
if your idea is good..then they might buy for alot of money ...
but then ...
if u dont patent the product they can steal the idea and u get nothing :(
but do so then go a company and i personally think that u should try and get .... like ..... a percentage of the profit ...
since its ur idea and their company then .... youd prolly get like 1-10 % of the profit..... so ....yeah ....does that answer your question ?

o yeah .... and dont go to a big company my mistake
start off small...
like a little store that does that type of buisneess
