My boyfriend and I have been together for almost three years now and he just seems to be dragging his feet with making a commitment. We've discussed it, we've argued over it! Telling me that we will marry one day isn't good enough anymore. I need something (in the form of a ring) that lets me know that I am not wasting my time and that we are heading somewhere. I'm almost 35. I would like to have kids before I'm old enough to have grandkids! I love him and he's great to me, but I don't want to hold on hoping for a future with him and in the end missing out on what I want because he cannot commit.

It is obvious he loves you if he is talking marriage some day. But, at 35 you need to get on the ball if you want children.
He needs to know that.
Have a heart to heart and explain everything to him and how you feel.
Some men think that thier lives are over if they get married. What they don't realise is that it has just begun.
There is nothing like watching a man hold his new born child and thinking of all the things he plans to do with it.

Sounds to me like you are commited. All marriage is a ring and paper. You need this in order to have a future with this man that you love and loves you? Do you really want to pressure someone into marrying you as well? You said he is great to you, shouldn't that be all that matters? Good men are very hard to find!

You shouldn't pressure a guy into making a commitment. If you force him you'll never know it that's truely what he wanted or if he did it to please you. i don't think that you need a ring on your finger to prove that he loves you. I say just ease up on the issue and go from there. If you are truely unhappy that he won't "commit" by giving you a ring, than I say leave him. If he has been with you for 3 years, don't you think that he is already commited to you? What difference does having a ring make?

If you feel like he is worth waiting for then wait for him to be ready for marrage. If you think that he isnt worth the wait then move on.
