lol Doug ..actually u need three eye-shadow degrees ...black , grey and white or u can use only black and white and blend them with the eye-shadow brush to get the smokey look ..
Use a Terquoise (lightblue) eyeliner and draw a line inside your eye ..and a line right below it ..make them really close together and dont leave any spaces ..all the eye liner thingy is done on the lower lid of your eye ...on the part between the eyebrow and the eye .. use the black eye shadow to colour your upper eye lid tottally then use a white eye shadow and colour the wrist of your eye ..

Its simple
1. put a really natural base color all over top eyearea
2.i f u want and only if you have a wide eyelids u can use grey or black eyeshadow (do not over do it)
3. simply try to draw your eyes as if u want to frame them with a black or brown eyeliner pencil (depending on how strong u want the look)
now this is where u get the smoky look or the black eye look
a.make sure that if u dont have wide eyelids then DO NOT use dark eyeshadow (it will only make ur eyes look smaller plus that will need alot of tricks which include the whole face makeup to look good)
b. when u outline ur eyes make the line really thin and when ur done if u want a thicker line u can either smudge the line with an eyeliner smudger or re draw the line to make it thicker and only increase thickness gradually so that u can judge as u go along what suits u better.
now this was all around the outer area of the eye.
for the inside use a black eyeliner pencil sharpen it but only to a medium stage then grab a lighter an pass the eyeliner pencil for only 1 or 2 seconds through the flame then try dabbing the pencil on ur hand to test the heat of the pencil if its not hot and not too melty draw a line in your internal lash line ( the point of doing this is once u get the eyeliner a tiny bit moist and u draw ur inner lash line with it it will dry up in ur eye and stay completley put all night long) but PLEASE BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN U DRAW YOUR EYE WITH IT, IT SHOULD NOT BE TOO HOT OR TOO MELTY just a tiny bit moist. U HAVE TO BE CAREFULL NOT TO BURN YOUR EYES.

When you line your lids go back over it with your darker used shadow and its applicator tip. Use small quick strokes almost like dotting. Nice results.
