I supported the war, unfortunately he took us to the wrong country. He has done a few great things: tax cuts, appointing Alito (but that came after a HUGE debacle), and attacking Afghanistan. But honestly, he has been mostly a disappointment to me. Maybe you can point out some other trully important conservative laws or initiatives that have actually been passed or acted upon.

Thank you for reminding me about the Patriot Act, most of which I agree with and support.

And reminding me that he did fight and finally get Brown and Owens approved to the federal courts. I have to tell you that I have a certain unease with Roberts right now.

It is true that President Bush has strayed from the conservative movement, but the question is, what is the alternative? To vote for Gore or Kerry?
Even the things that he has done that are more moderate than most conservatives feel comfortable with are better than what a diehard lib like Kerry would have done. His contribution to the conservative movement will end up being Alito.
But if you think about it, no president is going to do everything exactly the same as you would like him to, because there is too much politics involved. Sometimes it's just a matter of doing what is possible instead of what is preferred.
He has appointed a lot of conservative judges in the appeals courts, but i think that the patriot act was his worst mistake.

He did get John Roberts appointed as well... and as Chief Justice, no less. I think you have to give Bush some credit for the way he has handled some things. For instance, after 9/11 he took his time, made sure he knew who was responsible, then went after them.

Sadly, as a conservative, I'd like to see him stop spending so much money, maybe veto a few things. He's just an average American President, though, and that's it. He's a moderate, not a conservative, but he's better than the other options (by that I mean Gore and Kerry).

I think we are too close to his administration to view it objectively. History is the only record that matters. Over the last 20 years, political speak has become so negative and muckraking that none of us hear the real story.

Every President has problems and difficulties. Over time, we forget the bad and remember the good.

My disappointments are the lack of a "real" offensive in Iraq and Afghanistan (no carpet bombing), and lax action on border security.

I think President Bush will go into history as a very good president. Probably not one of the greatest, but how many Roosevelts and Lincolns are there?

I am very Conservative and his has most definitely been disappointing for me, he passed the patriot act, and cut taxes and was handling the war ok until he went into Iraq, but what really made me mad was his turn from the Conservative base. when he went behind closed doors with Barak Obama and other Democrats, and would not allow two Republicans in with them to discuss a deal over immigration, it made me sorry I voted for him, I do not like his stance on immigration and neither to most Americans. I am sick of them invading our country.

He should cut taxes even more and get rid of all the programs that help the poor. . All of them!! The poor need to grow up and learn to help themselves.. My taxes should not go to them!!
