geesus mary mother of pearl. I'm so tired of this cheating thing..
let's get something straight. the driver does not cheat. all they can do is drive the damn thing that the team puts together. rather they know what the CC does or not is between them and their team.
second, as for chad knauss's role in it.. all crew chiefs bend the rules as far as they can to make that car quicker. some go overboard and some get caught. that's what happened in february. sorry, but you have to give chad his props for trying to get his driver the best car possible. all of them do it, and a lot of them are like "man, why didn't i think of that" or "heck we should try that".. it's happened for years, and will continue to happen..and there will be plenty of teams who will get caught jumping the line too far.
jimmie has a great team, and he's a good enough driver to make that great car run ahead of the bunch. chad is a great crew chief. he's a little squirrely and i'm unsure of him, but i'll give him credit where it is due. he'll do anything for a win and to make his team great. he really puts the effort in. if you ever notice he's one of the most hands-on crew chiefs out there. quite honestly, i'd put him in almost the top 5 of current crew chiefs. there will never be another zippy, but that is besides the point.
you have a strong organization amongst the hendrick crew. most weeks you have 3 teams fighint for top positions. they've got the money to really put the research into what makes the cars better. with a bigger team you also benefit more under the new testing guidlines, and can swap info. team al that up with a pretty talented driver and you wil have a winning package..

A team can generate its own luck by its actions. The #48 team does just that. Because of that, he usually appears at the front of the field and contending for the win more times than most drivers. I think that just means the whole team is good, including the driver.
By the way, I am in no fashion a Jimmie Johnson fan. I just know that realistically you cannot count that team out.

As much as it pains me to say this, I doubt Johnson cheats. It's just too damn hard to get anything past NASCAR these days. Hendrick has great equipment and teams. Although I'm going to get pummeled for saying this, I don't think they have the best drivers. Case in point--Hendrick's top two drivers, Johnson and Gordon, have only two IROC wins combined and no championships. Sorry--the statistics prove it. They're above average drivers certainly, but they're not the best. The crews, crew chiefs, and equipment play a huge part.

Knaus (crew chief) is the one that cheats and tries to 'push the grey area' as he likes to call it, not Johnson.... I hate johnson, and the rest of Hendrick MS, but i have to admit Johnson's team is one of the top 3 or 4 rides in nascar. If you would put any other decent driver in the ride, the results would be the same. Its more like 90% equipment/team and 10% driver.

Because he is good! Did you see him spin out and save his car in practice a few weeks ago or spin out and do a 360 last week with no wreck? He knows what needs done and does it! You think that's cheating?

he is cheeting. chad knaus has had so many rules specified because he found a little gray area where he could cheet and not be cheeting, then they figure him out, and penalize him, then change the rules, so there is no gray area.
