I didn't like how it varied so greatly from the comic series.

My main issue was about Jean Gray, Scott Summers and Professor Xaivier dying in the movie. In the comic series they all live past the whole Phoenix thing. Why kill them off now? To insure no more movies like the public might like?

You have to boil months or years of a comic series into two hours and keep it current.

Well if you waited til the end of the credits of X3, you'd know that professor X is still alive in one form or another. So he hasnt died. Cyclops was a terrible character to start of with so they couldnt develope the character without Jean Grey. And Phoenix just lost it. Although they are the main characters, if you cant develop the main characters, theres no point with them being in the movie. Thats why Hally Berry ask for a larger role, if not there would have been no need for her again.

I think most avid fans of both books or comics that have their stories made into movies feel the same way. Almost every story gets changed. The studios do it for the mass market and rarely the original fans. I remember when Dune was made into a movie. The author, Frank Herbert, had quite a bit of control over the screenplay, and most people thought the movie stunk. But the books' fans pretty much loved it because it followed the story so closely. To most other people it was confusing. Some stories don't translate to the screen that well, and all movies are made to make money, so the studios have to balance commercial interests with artistic ones, and we all know, nobody's perfect.

I think you are referring to X3. Professor is not dead, Jean is not dead. If you knew the comics, you would know this. Jean's body is at the bottom of the lake in a mental coma (they killed off Dark Phoenix which you know can never die), Professor "moved" his mind and soul into a brain dead patient. You would know this if you waited until after the credits, a patient wakes up and says "hello Mortia" (not sure of the spelling of the name) which Mortia was Professor's nurse then she says, "Charles!!??". I truely believe they will make one more Xmen movie or will try to put some of this into Wolverine's movie.

The thing to bear in my mind about comic book storylines, is that there are several of them running simultaneously, and they don't always agree with one another. The same school of thought was put into the latest Xmen movie. Pieces of different storylines were pieced together, then altered, to create the most compelling and enjoyable film. I, for one, thought X3 was extremely entertaining and well-made...My only complaint was it was too short.

there's a good purchase of origins that they did not even get proper or element out. Ororo became initially a goddess in Africa (or a thief) relying on who you examine, she is a lover of nature. Rogue were given her powers from sucking the juice from yet another large-hero for 2 lengthy and getting her powers completely. Juggernaut became no longer meant to be a mutant, yet became meant to get his powers from a paranormal source. Iceman became meant to affix the unique team, as became beast, which became defined contained in the extra action pictures. Wolverine and Nightcrawler were defined nicely.
