We live in a rural area. People come out here and leave the dogs that they don't want. Sometimes the dogs come up to our house and we bring them into our family. Those that don't become feral. They have to learn to kill what they eat, therefore they are dangerous to all animals, our livestock, especially the newborns, and even humans. We hate to have to do it, but we have no choice, but to kill them. They are extremely dangerous and disease ridden. They always come in packs of at least 2 and usually 5 or more. They know there is safety in numbers and more likely a kill with more members to attack the prey. We are more afraid of the domestic feral dog than the coyote or wolf.
I wish people would spay or neuter their animals. It upsets us so much to have to put down an animal, especially if it could have been avoided in the first place. And, female cats don't make better pets after they have had a litter. That's just an old wives tell. We now have 13 cats because we will feed what ever comes up. So, please don't drop off an unwanted dog or cat to become wild or starve to death. It's not fair to the animal to starve it, or to make it become wild to survive.

Yes the Dingos in Austrailia's outback are wild dogs, some have been caught and domesticated and that's how we ended up with them and the Blue Healer.
All dogs at one time were wild and wolves and dogs are related, they are from the same family line in terms of genetics.

There's plenty of feral dogs right here in the US - look like domestic dogs because they - or their parents - were/are. They are apt to get shot for running/killing livestock. Some will form a pack and threaten people too.

There are wild dogs in Africa, also the dingo in Australia. The wild dogs of Africa
are in danger of becoming extinct. Fewer than 5000 are left in the wild.
