I currently work as a certified nursing assistant. It's an EXCELLENT job for those who aren't like me and can stand to change old people's diapers, help them walk, feed them, and all the other things I need to do. I realize that having my job is more than what I described, however, I want to do something else until I graduate from the medical transcription program. And no, I'm not going to be a nurse, I'll have to go to more school before I can even consider it and plus I won't like that any more than my current job. All I want is a part time job that can make ends meet.

I hire (and fire) a lot and what I want to see is enthusiasm and guts. I don't know what field you should apply to, but I suggest you make this offer:

Admit you have no experience but say it is a field you want to make a career in (and give reasons why!!!). Then offer to work for free for two weeks or a month while you prove to them you are worth even more than an experienced person because of your interest, your native skills (typing, problem-solving, whatever) and your intense drive to succeed.

Your "free" offer won't hurt you because it is illegal to hire someone without compensation unless they are a school-affiliated intern, so you will actually be offering to work for minimum wage for that period.

Do say you are going to school, but hint that it is in the field you are applying for and that you hope to change classes next semester to focus even more narrowly on this field (it's not quite a lie...).

Then deliver! Give it all you can sustain, be there early and late, check in and check out face-to-face, ask what more you can be doing, etc. Deliver on your side of the deal. Put aside all questions about whether this is an honorable employer you have made a deal with - you'll find that out in two short weeks, win or lose. If it is an honorable employer, they will watch you closely and if you deliver as promised they will make you a good offer because GOOD PEOPLE ARE DIFFICULT TO FIND, no matter what the profession.

1. Get their attention.
2. Deliver on your promise.

You'll do well.

You can mostly find a position in a temp agency or maybe find a job in retail such as fast food, restaurant or at any store that you can find in a mall.

But I would suggest you to find something in a temp agency-- you will have more work experience and have more contacts while working for a company. After you have worked for a particular company- you will gain some skills, meet people to form a network later on while you doing a job search.

Why don't you look into a pharmacy position? Maybe apply for a pharm. technician...Most pharm's will train you to work with them, and you can take the technician program when you're ready to...It can usually be taken by correspondence....(and the pharmacist's are pretty good at helping you out in the learning process) If you want...you could go and write an exam at some pt...and if you don't get it, you can try again in 6mth..or a year.
Just a thought...sounds like you might like to be in a more 'busy people atmosphere'...best of luck to you!(p.s....your cna position would be of benefit for this type of position, i believe...don't give up)and good luck with your med. program.

Try temp agencies. They usually place people based on how well they do on certain tests; i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint. If you don't have these skills, go to the library and practice.

How about a duck beak polisher. Just think of all the ducks in the world that needs their beaks polished.
