Age and silly storylines (I wont say ruined, but hurt) Kane. The bottom line is, he just isn't what he used to be in ring. They pretty much had to do something with him, since his Big Red Machine gimmick was getting really old, and they had already tarnished his credibility it with the Katie Vick Angle, so taking the mask off of him was the only realistic step. Unfortunately for Kane its often quite hard to catch lightning in a bottle twice, especially at a time when your career is winding down and you have exhausted so many gimmicks in the past.

Far as ruining him I don't think so if anything he is still the same crazy sick S.O.B. that he was when he was wearing the mask. But really I think that they should have left him with the mask on because he was more scarier and crazier then he is now. You really couldn't tell what he was up to as long as he was wearing that mask and another thing the crimson giant or big red machine doesn't still take as much emphasis as when he was with the mask. Ruin I don't think so. But he is still my Kane no matter what.

The orriginal KANE quit a long time ago, this new one is not as good. Thats why he is now unmasked. Though this new one has been around a while, he is not as talented as the orriginal. So yeah it hurt the rep of the ol'skool kane. This new one is kinda blah. :-)

It was part of the plot at the time, which is why they brought the imposter, possibly to brings Kane's mask back.

Well tey made a big deal about his face being burnt, but when they took it off he now just looks like an ugly mug. I have no idea what going on now since I stopped watching it after the Rock sold out...

i know who is the real kane is kane is baild other inposter kane is fake also the new fake kane is freaken dicken from deep south wrestling the
real kane is baild in real life i know because i watch raw every monday night at 9 00

I always thought it was almost like they unleashed the monster within when they did it. Once he had nothing to hide behind he became more violent, unpredictable and uninhibited. Kind of interesting to watch, I thought.
Besides, I find him to be attractive the way he looks now ;)
