Reality is a type of belief system which states that what is detected by our physical senses is what exists. Everything we experience physically is filtered through our sense organs which may or may not be functioning a t peak efficiency and then that is filtered through our brains which compares the sensation to every similar sensation we've ever had and usually applies an emotional value to it. Everything is a belief system. People we call crazy believe in their "reality", too. Ultimately, there is no "reality" only your choice of a belief system which works for you. The tragedy is that so many people have chosen disempowering belief systems.

Reality is not whatever you believe it to be, it's whatever you perceive it to be. Simply believing something won't change reality (for instance, I can believe I'm a millionaire all I want but just wait until the credit card bill comes due). Perception, on the other hand, IS reality. If I perceive that "the man" is holding me down then that will be the reality that informs all the decisions I make and how I interact with society at-large. Eventually, reality will reinforce my perception through self-fulfilling assumptions and my perception of realtiy will be further validated.

Since we do not have the ability to experience or comprehend any ones reality but our own, our own reality IS our reality.
People on drugs or who have mental disabilities believe that their existance and reality is different than others.
People who support Bush believe in one reality, while everyone else believes in another.
What is reality to a dog, or a mite?
Watch "Being John Malcovich" this will answer your question.

Consider this scenario. You are at the mall, and approaching you in the distance is someone you believe to be your friend. But, as the two of you approach even closer, you realize you have made a mistake and it is only someone who looks uncannily like your friend.
Now, if 'reality is whatever you believe it to be', while you believed that stranger to be your friend then it was indeed your friend - but when you came to believe otherwise, then otherwise. Do you still want to believe that 'reality is whatever you believe it to be'?
