I am boycotting them because I have the freedom of speech as well. Of course, what makes me dislike them is the fact that they are not only abusing their celebrity status, but they are abusing their freedom of speech. I feel that it is more important to have "responsible" speech than to run around using "free speech" as a shield. They are using it as a shield to make their treasonous statements on a worldwide "stage". I feel the same way about all celebrities and elected politicians that have been making public "anti-American" statements. I feel that they are giving aide and comfort to our enemies. If you don't agree with our government...that's great. We should question our government, but not on national television, not during a war, and not when our brave military members are in harms way.
BTW, don't get me started on the New York Times. That rag needs to be shut down.

As you reported, there is freedom of speech. there is also the right to opt for on. If some do not accept as true with what they pronounced, then they have the right to opt for on no longer to purchase something that the Dixie Chicks promote. they actually have the right no longer to allow their music into any institution that they own. (ie. in the adventure that they own a bar, they could opt for no longer to enable the Dixie Chicks music on their jukebox.) each and absolutely everyone has a suitable to their opinion yet once you're contained in the prevalent public lime mild, then you definately could do not forget that what you're saying would offend many and there would nicely be consequences.

It seems to me that a lot of people are boycotting the Dixie Chicks
and it isn't just because of the whole Bush thing either. If you listen to their new album it may explain a little more.

I like the Dixie Chicks music, that's why I spend my hard earned money on their cd's. I didn't vote for them to give their opinion about politics or anything else. They should concentrate on being good at what we pay them, (by buying their music) and if they want to give political opinions, then they should get voter's signatures, like all politicians do. Yes, I believe in freedom of speech, but I also believe that the cowards (like the Dixie Chicks) should be accountable for the things they say politically, or otherwise. I wish I could get my money back on the cd's I've bought over the years. If one or more of them get assassinated at their next public appearance, they will blame Bush.

I have always enjoyed the Dixie Chicks music. I was saddened when Natalie inserted her foot into her mouth! Here is the bottom line. The men and women who are in Iraq and other countries of the world, protecting our way of life and that very freedom of speech which she chose abuse, are put in danger even more by loosing the support of other nations who would be our allies (London) in fighting a war on terrorism by her inspiring citizens of those countries (whom by the way are not given a vote for our president) to show public disrespect to "the President of the United States" in a time of war. IF she chooses not to support George Bush for president, that is her right. She gets "1" vote. But if you lose you support whomever your president is. It is not just the man. It is an institution. You would have to have the heart to join the military to understand it any more than that!

Ignorant Americans, that's who. They don't understand what the concept of freedom of speech is. And ironicly those idiots think it's ok for themselves to speak out against the Dixie Chicks, but it's not ok for the Dixie Chicks to voice their opinion. What is the big hype about? It's about Natalie (while traveling over seas) voicing her dislike of President Bush and sending troops into war. She got lots of heat from Americans and radio stations saying she should keep her mouth shut, which then turned into people saying she's anti-american and doesn't support the troops. If anything she should be rewarded for speaking up in the moment of battle, not bashed, as she is years later.

If the neocons & red states are boycotting the Dixie Chicks, that's even more reason for me to go out & buy all their albums!
Personally, I like their cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide," because that's my dream for the Republicans losing control of the House & Senate this fall ;)

rednecks and true "Patriots" of america. those who boycott or criticize the Chicks also criticize the very thing they are trying to support....freedom. I'm not one for standing behind the consitution and bill of rights just to say whatever I want, but they do have a point. whether or not you agree with them is irrelevant. they have that liberty just as you do to boycott them. true patriotism is upholding and defending ALL the virtues that make this country unique. those who simply get their panties in a bunch and bash this and trash cd's are retards who wouldn't know the first thing about freedom and what it entails. Freedom is a double edged sword in which you can have the ability to speak your mind freely as well as have the raving idiot lunatics who "defend" our country's rights and all its inherent laws. Some people are simply blinded by patriotism and believe it to be one thing without taking in the whole picture. Honestly, I've never listened to the Chicks, do think they're pretty hot, but still admire their dedication throughout this "ordeal" and still stick to their guns regardless. Bravo.
And to AJ, it's not that they are abousing their "celebrity" status. it's just that their names are in the spotlight and therefore are singled out because of it. If you were a celebrity and said these things, you a*ss would be "abusing" your celebrity status as well. but since you're a nobody, nobody cares what you think. Take you politcal republican jargon sh*it and save it for the politics section. or to whoever believes your wacky cause. Politicians fu*ck this world up, not celebrity singers. Why don't you attack or boycott Bush instead of focusing on what little ol chicks have to say about politics?

I love the Dixie Chicks. I can understand why some people boycotted them for awhile, based on their beliefs, but what I can't understand is if we can forgive Bush and his CIA affiliates for, minimum, lying to the entire nation, why can't these people get over Natalie stating her beliefs rather bluntly at an inopportune moment.
